Star Colonel Riss was a Jade Falcon warrior and a fanatical follower of Malvina Hazen.

History[edit]

Riss was a Trueborn warrior of Clan Jade Falcon and a fanatical follower of Hazen's Mongol Doctrine. In 3150, when Malvina Hazen took the majority of the Falcon touman to Terra, Riss was left behind leading the relatively strong garrison of Arc-Royal, due to Riss’ advanced age.

Sometime in 3151, Riss had received news of Hazen's defeat and his Clan's annihilation in the ilClan Trial on Terra. Riss hid the outcome from his forces on Arc-Royal, pretending that she was alive. Riss developed a plan to hold Arc-Royal in order to win the favor of the new ilKhan. However this was thwarted when Callandre Kell and her Kell Hounds arrived in system and despite being in reduced numbers, began taking the Falcon positions systematically.[1]

The Battle of Arc-Royal (3151) quickly turned against the Falcons. Riss ordered all surviving Jade Falcon garrison forces to move to the capital, Old Connaught. Expecting to force Kell to leave the planet, Riss ordered mass executions of 1,000 civilians a day from the city. But the first daily massacre only enraged the Hounds. The next day the Kell Hounds attacked Old Connaught with all what they had.[2]

Callandre crashed a Broadsword class DropShip into the core of the Falcon defensive line to cripple it and led the charge against the survivors. Callandre not only faced off against the Jade Falcon warriors on the battlefield but also broadcast to Riss' forces that Malvina Hazen was dead, Clan Wolf was the ilClan, and that the Falcons had been annihilated on Terra. A furious Riss engaged Callendre with his Hunchback IIC, insulting her and attempting to minimize the damage her words had caused, all to no avail. The bulk of the Jade Falcon forces ceased fighting. Despite being outnumbered and having minor weaponry, Callandere's tank was able to avoid Riss' fire and downed his 'Mech. Riss was wounded and his 'Mech crippled, but he refused to surrender. Riss was attempting to descend from his 'Mech when Callandre ordered an artillery strike on his position. Two missiles destroyed his 'Mech and incinerated him.

Riss' death put an end to the battle and the rest of the Jade Falcons conceded defeat. They abandoned Arc-Royal, leaving it in Callandre and her Kell Hounds possession.[3]
